Warren Brooks - Headteacher

Declaration of Business & Financial Interest Autumn 2018 - Non Declared

It is a great honour to be the serving Headteacher at Mill Green.

Having worked in pastoral care across numerous secondary schools, the ‘unique flavour’ of Mill Green was apparent to me even prior to my appointment; all stakeholders – students, staff, parents and governors – work together to create a purposeful learning environment and embed life-skills so that our youngsters get the best possible opportunities. It is only when you get to spend time in Mill Green that you truly appreciate its holistic impact on our students’ lives.

I will endeavour to lead the school and be a positive role model for all our community. Our journey onto better things will be secured by a shared commitment, building partnerships and being resilient in the challenges we all face in the 21st Century. Furthermore, I will proudly look forward to sharing and celebrating the future success of Mill Green with all our stakeholders.

Katie Ratcliffe    Co-opted Governor

Declaration of Business & Financial Interest Autumn 18 - Member of the PTFA at St Mary's Primary School, Billinge. Daughter of fellow Governor William Bradbury.

After heading up the 'Skills for Working Life' event back in October 2016, it was clear to me that there was a connection with the school, teachers and learners. In the 6 weeks I spent working with everyone, I felt a sense of sadness that I was walking away from such wonderful people I had had the pleasure of meeting, working with and who inspired me so much. I was honoured to be given the chance to stay in the Mill Green family and to still see the progression of the learner I had worked with. Mill Green is a 'top notch' school and the facilities are simply amazing.

I am keen to know how I can support and help the school and I am excited to be a part of Mill Green. It is a passion of mine to ensure every child has a spring board to succeed and to be given the best possible chance in life to achieve this.  I am a problem solver and always strive to be the best in whatever I do, bringing the best out of people on the way, being honest, kind and empathetic. Having a sibling who is disabled makes me more determined to support Mill Green and all the wonder that it stands for. I am truly honoured to be welcomed to the school.

My hobbies include dancing, singing and acting and I am a qualified dance teacher. I also completed my musical theatre diploma at Laine Theatre Arts. I am a big animal lover, my favourites are the big cats and I have swam with sharks. This history of the Titanic also fascinates me and so does the paranormal.

Term of Office end date: 5th Dec 2020

Janet Leybourne   Parent Governor

Declaration of Business & Financial Interest Autumn 18 - Governor at Lansbury Bridge School

I was interested in becoming a Governor as I am passionate about the students achieving the best they can, by supporting the staff in every aspect of 'teaching' and ensuring all of our students have the best 'learning' experience to enable them to take their rightful place in society.

The best part of my role as Governor is to be part of an Outstanding school and college. I am honoured to be given the opportunity to be part of a Governing Body that is held in high esteem and all the staff and Headteacher that deliver this everyday. I love to be part of ensuring we have the right staff- I love interviewing.

I love to meet up with friends - 'ladies who lunch' and they all have 'special young people' living with them and without my son, we'd never have met which is why I have so much passion.

Declaration of Business and Financial Interest - Autumn 18 - Wife is a staff member at Mill Green School

I have been keen for some time to make a more active contribution to young peoples’ education, opportunities and futures.  Having acted as an Enterprise Adviser for a secondary school in Manchester I found this very rewarding; the Enterprise Adviser Network is a national network that connects schools and colleges with employers and careers programme providers to work together to create meaningful encounters with the world of work for young people.

As Head of Business Development for a large international construction contractor my job involves providing support and advice with strategic business planning; cultivating positive relationships with Clients and partners alike; and developing proposals which highlight the unique selling points of my organisation.  I am keen to draw-on these skills to support Mill Green wherever possible.
